I make technology
work for people.
Most tech help is either oversimplified advice that doesn't solve anything, or deep knowledge that assumes you already know what you're doing. I'm the bridge — I go deep enough to actually fix things, and explain it clearly enough that you understand what happened and why.
How I Can Help
My setup doesn't work right.
Your WiFi drops during calls. Your network was "set up" by your ISP and it shows. You've tried three solutions from Reddit and none of them stuck. Something is slow and you don't know why. I look at the whole picture — not just the thing that's broken, but the five things around it that are about to break.
Home networks, WiFi, machine setup and optimization, performance issues, system overhauls.
I want my privacy back.
You want to stop handing your life to companies that sell your data. But every guide online is either paranoid ideology or a 47-step tutorial. I know what actually matters versus what's overkill — and when the simple option is the right one. The goal is a setup that works for your life, not a purity test.
Privacy migrations, degoogling, encrypted email and DNS, password managers, VPNs, threat modeling for real people.
Build me something that runs itself.
You want a home server, a media system, automated backups, a self-hosted cloud, a knowledge management setup — but you don't want to spend three weekends on YouTube tutorials and end up with something fragile. I build it, document it, and make sure you understand what's running and why.
Home servers, self-hosted services, media systems, automated backups, knowledge management, Docker, Proxmox.
Help me actually use AI.
You keep hearing about AI tools but you're overwhelmed by the options, or you want to run models on your own hardware instead of sending everything to the cloud. Maybe you want to automate tedious parts of your workflow without becoming a prompt engineer. I know what's actually useful versus what's marketing.
Local AI setup, workflow automation, AI tool evaluation and integration, self-hosted AI infrastructure.
Help me make or sell something online.
You have a 3D printer that's not dialed in, or you launched an Etsy or Shopify store but something isn't clicking — the listings, the photos, the workflow. I've run a product business for years and done the unsexy backend work: photography pipelines, image optimization, SEO, email deliverability, store configuration.
3D printer and laser cutter setup, CAD guidance, Etsy and Shopify optimization, product photography, email auth (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), listing SEO, fulfillment.
I have a weird problem nobody else can solve.
Legacy systems, obsolete file formats, setups held together with duct tape, things that span five platforms and none of them talk to each other. Something that makes other tech people say "that's not really my area." This is what I'm best at.
Legacy migrations, cross-platform issues, obsolete formats, complex system architecture, the stuff that doesn't fit in a category.
Who I Am
I've spent years building my own infrastructure — home servers, encrypted networks, fabrication tools, AI pipelines, automation systems, an online product business — because I wanted to understand how things actually work, not just trust that they do.
I test everything myself before I recommend it to anyone. But I'm not an ideologue — I'll recommend the privacy-respecting option when it's genuinely better, and the convenient option when that's what actually makes sense for you. The goal is technology that serves your life, not a setup so complex that maintaining it becomes a second job.
I don't sell ongoing contracts or retainers you don't need. I fix the problem, show you what I did, and you move on with your life.
How It Works
Reach out
Tell me what's going on. No intake forms, no qualifying calls. Just describe the situation.
Quick call
Short conversation, free. I figure out what you're actually dealing with and whether I can help.
I get to work
Hands-on — usually remote, sometimes on-site. You see everything I do. Nothing behind a curtain.
You're set
You understand what was done, why, and how to maintain it. If something breaks because of my work, I fix it.
What It Costs
Quick fixes & consultations
$150–300
Most problems are solved in one or two sessions. You describe the issue, I fix it or advise on it, and you move on.
Bigger projects
$500–2,000+
Network overhauls, privacy migrations, server builds, AI setups, store optimizations. Scoped and estimated upfront.
Ongoing advisory
$200/mo
Someone on call for questions, second opinions, and up to 2 hours of hands-on remote help per month. Like a knowledgeable friend who picks up the phone.
Straight estimate before any work starts. No surprises. If I can't help, I'll tell you.
Real Work
20 years of architecture, trapped in a dead machine.
An architect's iMac G5 died with two decades of project files in MacDraft 4.4 — a format no modern software can open. I pulled the internal drive, recovered the data, and tried four different conversion approaches. VMware failed. PowerPC emulation failed. A third-party CAD tool couldn't read the format. Finally tracked down a copy of MacDraft 6.1 running on a Mid-2011 iMac — that worked. Converted his active project files to the modern format, sourced a dedicated 2018 Mac Mini on eBay, downgraded it from Sonoma to Mojave, and set it up as his permanent CAD workstation. Also recovered six months of project files from the dead drive that his backup hadn't captured.
A media server running out of room.
A friend's automated media server — Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, the whole stack running in Docker on Ubuntu — was at 96% capacity with no clear path to expand. I installed and configured MergerFS to pool the existing drive with a new 16TB drive into a single logical volume. The system went from nearly full to 34% used with 14TB of headroom. Set it up so adding future drives is a 10-minute job instead of a weekend project. Documented everything so someone else could maintain it.
Have a problem?
Tell me about it.
No scheduling tools, no discovery calls. Just describe what's going on and I'll get back to you within a day.
